Agam, InfoPublik – The Health Office of Agam regency in West Sumatera province has made preparation for the implementation of the National Immunization Week (PIN) for Polio. This event will be held simultaneously in all regions in Indonesia on March 8—15, 2016.

Agam’s head of Health Problems Controlling Division, Hendri Rusdian, on Monday (2/29), said his office has disseminated the implementation of PIN for Polio in every district in the regency.

However, public and all stakeholders are expected to take part in disseminating information about the event to those who do not know yet.

Mr. Rusdian said all this time, the rate of polio cases in Agam is zero. Moreover, Indonesia has been declared free of polio along with other World Health Organization (WHO) member states in the South East Asian Region (SEAR) in March 2014.

“In order to maintain this success and as part of commitment to create a world free of polio and to prevent transmission of polio virus from other countries, Indonesia needs to strengthen the implementation of polio immunization and supplemental immunization program by conducting National Immunization Week for Polio which will be held on March 8—15, 2016," he said.

Agam government has prepared 852 PIN Polio posts in all districts for baby under 59 months. (mc agam/toeb/Translator: Sugiarti)
