Jakarta, InfoPublik - The Home Affairs Ministry will implement Child Identity Card (KIA) for children under 17 years old. The policy will be implemented nationwide starting this year, based on the Home Affairs Minister Regulation Number 2 Year 2016.
"KIA will be used as an identity to facilitate access to public services—health, education, banking, immigration, and transportation. Acquiring public services will be easier, children only need to present their KIA without birth certificate or family card like before," said Home Affairs Minister, Tjahjo Kumolo, in Jakarta, Sunday (2/28).
According to Minister Kumolo, the same policy had been implemented in 10 regencies/cities in Indonesia, among others, Yogyakarta, Depok, Malang, Bandar Lampung, Makassar, Bantul, Central Bangka, Balikpapan, and Solo in 2007.
He underlined the local policy then accommodated into Ministerial Regulation in order to apply the same national standards.
"The Ministry has chosen 50 regions for initial implementation and it will be continued to 514 regencies/cities," he said.
He added that the Ministry has prepared a budget of Rp8.7 billion for training and application form procurement. (Translator: Wilda Stiana)
