Previously, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi said the COVID-19 pandemic posed additional challenges for democracy.

"Some parties consider that the restrictions or lockdowns implemented during this pandemic are restricting individual freedom. However, this is not true," she said.

According to her, limited restrictions are needed to prevent the risk of reducing basic freedoms which must be respected and implemented.

Such restrictions must also be measured, so as not to completely diminish the people's right to freedom.
