Jakarta, InfoPublik- Home Affairs’ Ministry Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) Secretary Directorate General, I Gede Suratha, stated that his office had submitted population data to the Statistics Indonesia (BPS) to be be used for the census.

The population data submitted were personal identity number (NIK), full name, address, and other data on family cards (KK). Gede explained that 2020 Population Census results can also be accessed by the Home Affairs Ministry to update existing population data.

Dukcapil has to update the existing population data due to inconsistency with the field data. For example, many families did not make a death certificate of the deceased family member, so that they are still listed as resident identity cards (KTP) holders.

Local Dukcapil will then urge the family to immediately update the family member population administration data. Thus, the population data on Dukcapil will be up to date.

Previously, BPS Social Statistics deputy Margo Yuwono said that his office would use data from the DG Dukcapil as the basis for the 2020 Population Census. (Translator: Erik Limantara)
