Jakarta, InfoPublik – Indonesian Health Ministry’s Director General for Health Services dr. Bambang Wibowo asserted that cooperation agreement between BPJS Healthcare and hospitals that fail to apply for re-accreditation will be terminated.

However, in an official statement received by InfoPublik, Wednesday (8/5), dr. Bambang stated that the decision won’t effect the regencies/cities whose access to health services are limited. "As an example, we will give the permission for an area that only have one or two hospitals and at the same time also urge them to apply for accreditation," he said.

BPJS Healthcare must coordinate with local Health Office to arrange referral healthcare services for participants of National Health Insurance (JKN). In addition to hospital accreditation, dr. Bambang also urge BPJS Health to pay claims on time to the hospitals.

Director of BPJS Healthcare Service Assurance, dr. Maya A Rusady, M.Kes, AAK supported the existing regulations on hospital accreditation and BPJS Healthcare services. "We all hope for hospitals to apply for accreditation and re-accreditation," she said.

By the end of June 2019, 127 hospitals must renew their accreditation, 67 of which have completed re-accreditation, and 50 hospitals have been scheduled for survey by Hospital Accreditation Commission (KARS).

Based on the data, 10 hospitals have not applied for reaccreditation, while 384 hospitals will have their accreditation expired by the end of June 2019. The total number of hospitals which ties cooperation with BPJS Healthcare are 2,430.
