President: Large Scale Social Restrictions to be Implemented More Strict and Disciplined

Jakarta, InfoPublik - President Joko Widodo ordered a large-scale social restriction policy to be done more sternly and disciplined in order to maximize its effectiveness.

"Implementation of large-scale social restrictions needs to be done more sternly," said the President through a press release received by InfoPublik, Monday (30/3/2020).

In implementing the large-scale social restriction policy, the President ordered his administration to immediately prepare implementing regulations as guidelines for provinces, regencies, and cities.

The policy must synergize with regulation on health quarantine that are currently being drafted. Regional quarantine is authority of the Central Government, not the Regional Government.

"I expect all ministers to ensure that central-regional governments having the same vision and policy, and calculate every aspect both from health and socio-economic impacts carefully,” he said.

The regulation must ensure that people will be able to meet their basic needs.

"I also want and ensure that pharmacies and shops that sell basic necessities to remain open to serve the needs of the community by still maintaining strict physical spacing protocols,"

In line with this policy, the government is also preparing a social protection program and economic stimulus for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), business players, and informal workers.
