Tourism Ministry Adds Special Category for Super Priority Destinations in 2019 Indonesia Tourism Reporter Award

Jakarta, InfoPublik – Public communications bureau of the Indonesian Tourism Ministry added a special category to be contested in the Indonesia Tourism Reporter Award (APWI) 2019, namely "Super Priority Destinations".

Public Communications Bureau Head Guntur Sakti in Jakarta, Wednesday (8/7) said that the APWI 2019 which is themed “Millenial Tourism” was different from that of the previous year for it has a special category called “Super Priority Destinations” which are Labuan Bajo, Mandalika, Lake Toba, and Borobudur.

"This category is in line with government’s programs to encourage infrastructure development in the five regions of Lake Toba, Borobudur, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, and Likupang Special Economic Zones of North Minahasa," he said, continuing that this event is a form of appreciation for reporters who had given their best contribution in the form of journalistic works in the form of features, both written and video.

This year’s APWI is exceptional because the contested journalistic works carry the theme "Millennial Tourism". Various categories are contested with a total prize of Rp500 million. In addition, the winner of the "Best of the Best" category of will be entitled of Rp100 million of prizes.

"This year there is an additional category, namely a Special Category for reporters who make feature articles and videos on Super Priority Destinations," said Guntur Sakti.

This Special Category aims to promote the Super Priority Destinations (Lake Toba, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, Borobudur) as determined by President Joko Widodo.

APWI 2019 requires, among other, feature articles or videos about the Super Priority Destination, published within the period of 1 January to 16 August 2019 with a maximum submission of 3 feature articles or videos.

"The deadline for submissions is 16 August 2019. Don't forget to include the description 'SPECIAL CATEGORY' in the email or mail envelopes," added Guntur.

The main theme of APWI 2019 is Millennial Tourism for 5 Categories (Newspapers, Magazines, Online, Blogger, and Television Shows) plus a Special Category 'Super Priority Destination'.

According toGuntur, the Millenial Tourism concept was intended for millennials who demand digital experience in all aspects. Starting from holiday inspiration, research and planning, airplane tickets and hotel booking, airport experience, to arrival at the destination and enjoying the holiday.


"Journalists and bloggers having experience of digital tourism destinations or reporting digital technology in tourism industry ecosystem, don't forget to put your experience in an interesting feature and participate in this competition," said Guntur.

Guntur also explained that participation of tourism reporters in APWI competition continued to increase. In 2018, 432 features were received, consisted of 56 magazine articles, 43 newspaper articles, 119 online articles, 153 blog articles, and 61 video features.

"The number of APWI 2018 participants has increased rapidly. This year is expected to see another increase because the total prize is now Rp500 million. Last year was only Rp300 million," said Guntur.
