Jakarta, InfoPublik - Bank Indonesia’s Communication Department Executive Director Onny Widjanarko said Bank Indonesia (BI) will continue to encourage the expansion of electronification programs, particularly for the distribution of social assistance, integration of transportation modes, and regional government transactions in order to increase efficiency and to improve economic capacity.

"Bank Indonesia will encourage the acceleration of digital transformation for the Indonesian economy through the implementation of the Indonesian Payment System of 2025," Onny said in a press release received in Jakarta on Sunday (23/6).

He reckoned that BI also continues to boost the quality improvement program for MSMEs. They are expected to be able to produce quality products; keep up with digital developments such as the use of e-commerce, digital payment and digital financing in particular; and expand their export access.

Until now, the smooth payment systems, both cash and cashless, have been maintained.

Circulated cash grew 19.3% (yoy) at Rp.850.2 trillion in accordance with its seasonal pattern related to the need for cash during 2019 Ramadan/Eid al-Fitr.

On the other hand, the total transactions using debit cards, credit cards and electronic money grew 12.6% (yoy). Electronic money transactions grew significantly at 218.3% (yoy) as the result of the use of non-bank electronic money in e-commerce transactions.
